President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in the Norwegian parliament that the actions of the Russian Federation at sea pose a threat to international security.
Speaking remotely with Norwegian parliamentarians, he pointed out that Ukrainian ports were blocked with the start of the Russian invasion. “About a hundred ships cannot enter the Mediterranean Sea,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
He added that some ships were captured. – This is piracy, the purpose of which is to steal the goods they are transporting. Some ships were fired upon. The Russians are blocking the ships not only with their fleet, the Kremlin has mined the seas. He pointed out that this is a danger to many ships and many countries that operate at sea.
Threat of ecological catastrophe
The Ukrainian leader added that Russian mines in the Bosphorus and off the coast of Bulgaria and Romania were also found and cleared. “I don’t even want to think about what would have happened if some of these mines hadn’t been cleared. Ferries, passenger or cargo ships, and maybe tankers may suffer – God forbid. And their outbreak could not only kill people, but also lead to an environmental disaster. Then Russia will again say that it is not her fault, he stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Norway to supply weapons, as well as Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
