The Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine is expanding the investigation of war crimes in the areas northeast of Kyiv after the withdrawal of Russian troops, BTA reports.
Until now, reports of civilian killings have mostly affected settlements northwest of the capital, such as Bucha, but today the Prosecutor General’s Office said it was investigating events in the Brovary district to the northeast.
Last month, Russian troops launched an offensive in the area and then retreated to focus on fighting in eastern Ukraine.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said the bodies of six civilians were found with gunshot wounds in a basement in the village of Shevchenkove. It is believed that Russian troops are responsible for the killings.
The prosecutor’s office is also investigating a case in which Russian troops allegedly killed four people, including a 13-year-old boy, while shelling a column of civilians trying to leave the village of Peremoha in cars. In another case near Bucha, five people, including two children, were killed in a car bombing. The prosecution did not say when he thought the events took place.
