Ukraine has accused neighboring Hungary of minimizing Russian aggression and violating EU unity following a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Vladimir Putin.
“Obviously, after the election, Budapest has taken the next step – to help Putin continue his aggression against Ukraine,” said a statement from Ukraine’s foreign ministry, which accused Hungary of “destroying EU unity.”
Ukraine has also criticized Hungary for its willingness to pay for Russian gas in rubles.
“If Hungary really wants to help end the war, here’s how to do it: stop destroying EU unity, support new anti-Russian sanctions, provide military assistance to Ukraine and create new sources of funding for the Russian military machine. It’s never too late to take history.” – said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
