President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on the Turkish authorities to “make a choice”. In an interview with Greek public television ERT, he described the actions of the Turkish authorities – and above all their development of special programs for Russian tourists, as “double standards”.
“On the one hand, Turkey acts as a mediator and supports Ukraine with important steps, and on the other hand, we see, for example, the simultaneous preparation of tourist routes. Especially for Russian tourism. We also see it. And I, as president, have to say that this is impossible if we want to have friendly relations, “said Mr. Zelensky.
He added that “these are double standards.” “That is why I am drawing Turkey’s attention to this, I believe that this cannot be the case, because a choice must be made – you are for the truth or not,” the Ukrainian president added.
The Turkish authorities, in turn, comment on the situation with Russian tourists in this way – “in Turkey, there is no negative situation around tourists from Russia.” This was stated by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan. “Putin is sensitive to these issues, he said he would provide all necessary support,” the Turkish president added. It was also clarified that Russia is still one of the five leaders in increasing the flow of tourists to Turkey.
