Residents of the Romanian city live in stress due to sirens heard from Ukraine

Repeated air alarm signals heard in the municipality of Sighetu Marmatiei, especially at night, come from the city of Uzhgorod, said the Emergency Situations Inspectorate of Maramures County, according to Agence France-Presse.

“In connection with the reports of the residents of Sighetu Marmatiei about the air alarms that have sounded in recent days, we clarify that they come from the public alarm center in Uzhgorod, Ukraine, which also issues alarms in the Transcarpathian region on the border with Romania. We call for peace, because there is no danger for the citizens of Romania,” said Oana Alex Gonci, spokeswoman for the Maramures Emergency Situations Inspectorate.

The municipality of Sighetu Marmatiei is located near the Romanian-Ukrainian state border.
