The Japanese government plans to help Ukraine clear the country’s territory of rubble, mines and unexploded ordnance.
The details of the decision to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $100 million, adopted last month by the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan, headed by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, have become known.
In accordance with the decision, Japan will help with the supply of food, essentials, medicines and the safe exit of refugees from Ukraine.
Assistance will be provided through international organizations, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Japan will also take part in the distribution of seeds for the revival of agricultural production in Ukraine.
General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan Matsuno Hirokazu noted that Tokyo will continue to provide assistance to Kiev in the framework of cooperation with the G7 countries.
He added that as of the beginning of this week, 321 firms, 147 municipalities and 17 NGOs have joined the campaign to help Ukraine.
