The meeting at the US military base Ramstein in Germany formalized the new approach of the EU and NATO, which now aims not to achieve peace in Ukraine, but a war to victory. Diplomat Lyubomyr Kyuchukov spoke about this in the studio of the program “More than a day” on the Bulgarian BNT.
According to him, although the West is already helping Ukraine to wage war instead of seeking peace, there is still a chance for diplomacy.
He added that there was also a high probability that Russia would be “imprisoned” in the conflict in Ukraine if the war dragged on.
Azovstal and Mariupol are the key to the land corridor to Crimea, which aims to deprive Ukraine of the Azov coast. The battle for Donbas is also important. The capture of Kyiv, at least at the moment, is not on the agenda, Kyuchukov said.
Regarding yesterday’s explosions in Transnistria, the diplomat explained that these were signals that the war could go beyond Ukraine, which would be the most dangerous at the moment.
If the war leaves the territory of Ukraine, the process will be difficult to contain. The 14th Russian Army is in Transnistria, Kyuchukov explained.
Asked what is the only deterrent that prevents peace from entering a nuclear war, the diplomat said it was “fear”.
If the conflict escalates, ie becomes global, the risk of nuclear war will be serious, said Lubomyr Kyuchukov.
