The operational focus of the Russian invasion has shifted to eastern Ukraine, but Russia’s ultimate goal remains the same.
This is stated in an intelligence review of the British Ministry of Defense, published on Sunday morning.
Russian forces continue to transfer combat and auxiliary equipment from Belarus to eastern Ukraine. These include locations near Kharkiv and Severodonetsk, according to British intelligence.
Russian artillery continues to strike at Ukrainian positions in the east of the country, where Russia plans to resume its offensive.
At the same time, although Russia’s operational focus has shifted to eastern Ukraine, Russia’s ultimate goal remains the same.
“It seeks to force Ukraine to abandon its Euro-Atlantic orientation and assert its own regional dominance,” the statement said.
The United States has reportedly persuaded its allies to provide Ukraine with more artillery and ammunition, expecting an intensified Russian offensive in the coming days.
