Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO troops will not be sent to Ukraine as part of peacekeeping missions. The proposal for a peacekeeping mission was presented in Kyiv during the visit of the heads of governments of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
We support all efforts to achieve peace, but we have no plans to send NATO troops to Ukraine, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The head of the Alliance was asked about the possibility of sending a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.
Earlier, Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak said that the proposal to send a NATO peacekeeping mission to Ukraine was received with interest by the Alliance. – This is not an easy project, everyone knows about it. We are ready to provide details. We count on the fast position of the Alliance, – the minister added.
“We want to stop the invasion”
– Ukraine was attacked by Russia, there is a war, civilians are dying. Of course, the North Atlantic Alliance does not agree to such a situation. Therefore, we discussed the actions that should be taken to stop this invasion,” he said.
– I would like to emphasize that among the allies, among the entire North Atlantic Alliance, there is unity both in assessing the situation and in assessing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the assessment that Belarus is taking part in this aggression, allowing the territory of Ukrainian cities to be under fire in Belarus , – said Mariusz Blaszczak.
The proposal to send a NATO peacekeeping mission to Kyiv was presented by Deputy Prime Minister Yaroslav Kaczynski. “It will be a mission that will strive for peace, provide humanitarian assistance, but will also be protected by the appropriate forces and armed forces,” he said. According to Yaroslav Kaczynski, “this is what Ukraine, Europe and the entire democratic world really needs now.”
