NATO says that Russia is not withdrawing troops from Ukraine at all, but is preparing for a new offensive. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that Russia’s recent statements about the limitation of hostilities are another lie on the part of the Russian authorities.
– Russian troops are not being withdrawn from Ukraine, but are regrouping. More Russian attacks on Ukraine should be expected, causing even more suffering, he said at a conference in Brussels. He added that “Russia is trying to regroup, replenish supplies and strengthen the offensive in the Donbas region.”
Possible offensive actions
– At the same time, Russia continues to put pressure on Kyiv and other cities. So more offensive actions can be expected, which will bring even more suffering, he added.
NATO expects that very fierce battles may begin in the east of Ukraine in the near future, which can lead to numerous new casualties. The head of the Alliance called on Russia to stop the war, withdraw all soldiers and fully engage in diplomatic negotiations.
Two days ago, during the next round of peace talks in Turkey, the Russian side announced that as a gesture of goodwill, it would reduce military operations in the Kiev and Chernihiv regions.
