Nutritionist Natalia Kruglova advises people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract not to eat fried, sour food, and not to drink coffee.
“If a person has a disease of the digestive tract, such as gastritis, you should exclude acidic foods, vegetables, fruits, fruit juices, which also have a sour taste. Citrus juices can irritate the gastric mucosa,” – said the expert.
Coffee can also exacerbate chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, so it is also not recommended on an empty stomach for people with reflux esophagitis.
“With this disease, the stomach contents return to the esophagus, and people experience heartburn, a bitter taste in the mouth. In this situation, we usually exclude coffee,” says the doctor.
In liver disease, however, coffee is even useful, continues Kruglov.
“There is evidence that coffee consumption improves the course of liver disease. That is, you need to look at the situation in which a person is,” – she concludes.
