Higher coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of cancer that begins in the body of the uterus – endometrial cancer. And coffee with caffeine can provide better protection than coffee without caffeine. This was shown by a study by Chinese scientists published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Research.
The analysis included 24 studies of coffee consumption, which identified 9,833 new cases of endometrial cancer in 699,234 women. Women with the highest category of coffee consumption had a 29% lower risk of developing endometrial cancer than women with the lowest category. The authors of the analysis identified several mechanisms associated with the potential anti-cancer effects of coffee.
“To learn more about the benefits of coffee associated with the risk of endometrial cancer, additional studies with a large sample size are needed,” they said.
Cancer of the uterine body, otherwise known as endometrial cancer, is a malignant tumor of the mucous membrane (endometrium) that lines the inside of the uterine body (from the uterine cavity). Cancer of the uterus most often occurs in postmenopausal women (postmenopausal period), but recently there is a tendency to “rejuvenate” it.
