EU foreign ministers will discuss at a meeting in Luxembourg the possibility of imposing sanctions on the Russian oil sector in connection with hostilities in Ukraine. This was stated after the arrival at the meeting of the chief diplomat of Madrid Jose Manuel Albarez, reports TASS.
“We will analyze the military situation and how we can support the army and government of Ukraine so that a free Ukraine continues to exist. Undoubtedly, we will analyze this situation (the possibility of imposing an oil embargo against the Russian Federation – ed.),” He said. At the same time, he drew attention to “the need not to destabilize individual countries whose energy structure is traditionally closely linked to Russia.”
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a “special military operation” in Ukraine. After that, the United States, the EU, Britain and a number of other countries imposed sanctions on Russian individuals and legal entities.
