The Hungarian government opposes the ban on Russian energy supplies and will continue to defend its position at European Union meetings. This was stated by the chief diplomat of Budapest Peter Siyyarto on the sidelines of the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg, according to TARS.
“We have already decided that the import of crude oil and natural gas should not be subject to sanctions. This position must be defended again and again,” said Siarto. In this sense, the discussion in Luxembourg “will not be an exception,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
EU foreign ministers are discussing at a meeting in Luxembourg the possibility of imposing sanctions on the Russian oil sector in connection with hostilities in Ukraine. This was clarified earlier by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain Jose Manuel Albarez upon arrival at the meeting, read more at the link.
“We will analyze the military situation and how we can support the army and government of Ukraine so that a free Ukraine continues to exist. Undoubtedly, we will analyze this situation (the possibility of imposing an oil embargo against the Russian Federation – ed.),” He said. At the same time, he drew attention to “the need not to destabilize individual countries whose energy structure is traditionally closely linked to Russia.”
