The United States is sending troops to Afghanistan to evacuate a large number of US embassy staff from Kabul. This was announced by US State Department spokesman Ned Price.
“In the coming weeks, the US Department of Defense will send troops to Hamid Karzai Airport for evacuation,” Price said. He added that the US embassy will not be closed and will continue to provide diplomatic services.
According to him, the number of employees of the embassy will be reduced to a minimum.
Price added that Washington was deeply concerned about the escalation of violence and the destabilization of the situation in Afghanistan caused by a large-scale offensive by Taliban forces.
At the same time, the US Embassy in Kabul called on all US citizens to leave Afghanistan immediately.
