“Pay an additional fee and go to Rome or avoid the fee and rest in Minsk” – such a choice can be put before Russian tourists who remain loyal to European routes. At least, this is the choice, according to the Baza telegram channel, proposed by an international group of experts that is developing sanctions against Russia. The fee is proposed to be collected “for the restoration of Ukraine”.
“A group of experts has published new initiatives to strengthen sanctions against Russia. Among them, there was a recommendation to introduce a special fee for the recovery of Ukraine – it is proposed to be collected from Russians when issuing European visas.
The group also called for the development of a mechanism for removing sanctions from officials and oligarchs, but only for “proper behavior,” the channel’s experts are quoted as saying. Condemnation and complete refusal to support the war in Ukraine is called “proper behavior”. Thus, it is proposed to add a fee to all visas issued to citizens of Russia traveling to Europe and other countries that are part of the “sanctions coalition”.
Which, after all, is not surprising: a group of experts formed at the initiative of Volodymyr Zelenskyi is developing sanctions against Russia and Belarus. It is managed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak and ex-adviser of the US President on national security Michael McFaul.
It should be noted that recently Russian tour operators recorded an increase in demand for European routes, primarily to Italy and Greece. Whether these measures will be taken and whether the “elite” Russians, who are ready to travel to the familiar Europe at any cost, will agree to them is a question.
