On September 29, the Sejm of Poland adopted a resolution calling on the European Union to refuse the EU countries from issuing visas to Russians. The corresponding document was published on the official website of the lower house of parliament.
“The Sejm of Poland supports the actions of the government of the republic in the international arena, aimed at stopping the issuance of visas to citizens of the Russian Federation. The deputies appeal to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers with a request to continue work on this issue, and to all political forces in the country to support the efforts of the Cabinet of Ministers,” the appeal says.
According to the voting results, the parliamentarians almost unanimously supported the resolution: 434 deputies were in favor, and two abstained.
Note that Poland has not issued tourist visas to Russians since the winter. And on September 19, the republic joined the additional restrictions that Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia proposed to introduce. In particular, these countries banned the entry of citizens of the Russian Federation with Schengen visas of any EU states, as well as transit to Europe through their territories.
An exception is made only for Russians arriving for humanitarian purposes or to meet with relatives. Also, employees of transport companies, dissidents, and diplomats have preferences. Russians who evade partial mobilization may soon be added to this list. The Council of the European Commission is now considering this issue.
Finally, from September 30, Finland also closes entry for Russian tourists. The parliament of the republic has already adopted the corresponding document. The issuance of tourist visas, respectively, is also suspended.
