India introduces special visa for Ayurveda lovers

In India, they plan to launch special visas for tourists who come to improve their health and receive medical services. This was stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reports New Delhi Television.

They intend to call the special visa Ayush (a derivative of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy, that is, Ayurveda, yoga, Yunani, Siddha and homeopathy). According to the Prime Minister, this visa will facilitate the availability of Ayush therapy. At the same time, the launch date and price are still unknown.

“Traditional medicine has helped increase tourism in Kerala. This is a prospect in all corners of India. Wellness in India could be the big brand of the decade. Ayurvedic centres, yunani practices and others can become very popular with foreign tourists,” the prime minister explained.

The speaker also added that there are other initiatives to promote the medical tourism sector, including the creation of a digital portal to connect medicinal plant farmers with Ayush product manufacturers.

Interest in medical services in India is growing. However, tours to Ayurveda or other health practices are in limited demand due to their high cost. At a minimum, such a trip will cost one and a half thousand dollars, and if it is a full-fledged wellness program with accommodation in a 5-star hotel – from three thousand dollars. In addition, as experts explained, in order for the Ayurvedic complex to have any tangible effect, it will take at least two weeks, during which the tourist will have to strictly follow the schedule of procedures, practices, a strict diet and sleep schedule.

Recall that from February 14, India canceled the mandatory weekly quarantine for arriving foreigners. According to the new rules, there is also no need to take a PCR test on the eighth day of arrival.
