Georgia again raised the issue of a possible revision of the visa-free regime with Russia. This time, President Salome Zurabishvili made such statements during a conference with Maia Sandu in Chisinau. According to the Georgian leader, the final decision will be made by the government. The reason for the talk about a possible revision of the “liberal visa-free regime” was the influx of Russians in Georgia over the past month.
Recall that after the announcement of partial mobilization, many kilometers of queues formed on the Russian-Georgian border. Some travelers were stuck in traffic for three days. To reduce the congestion of the checkpoint, cars from other regions were temporarily stopped from entering the territory of North Ossetia.
Earlier, the Georgian opposition politician Nikolaz Vashakidze made a statement about the introduction of a visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation.
