Turkish diplomat explains tactics of shelling Ukrainian cities: Russia repeats Aleppo strategy

– Russia attacks civilian targets, hinders humanitarian operations and evacuations. In the war in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin uses tactics known from the Syrian Aleppo, former Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Aydin Adnan Sezgin, quoted by Ukrinform, as saying.

– We are currently seeing similar tactics of Russian attacks in Ukraine, as well as in Syria. The Russian army attacks randomly. The objects of the bombardment are not some military units, these are all the estates where people live, the former ambassador said.

Attacks on humanitarian corridors

Another similarity, according to Sezgin, is the capture of cities. As he explained, Russian President Vladimir Putin declares security guarantees for civilians, which, however, do not work in practice. – When a humanitarian corridor opens, it does not allow it to work under predetermined conditions (…). On the contrary, it starts shelling, – he described.

Nine humanitarian corridors are scheduled for Tuesday. In the Kiev region, humanitarian convoys will go to Brovary from Bogdanovka, Novobogdanovka and from the village of Bobry, in the Sumy region to Poltava from Sumy, Trostenets, Lebedina, Shostka and Konotop, and in the Kharkiv region from the village of Oskul.

Kremlin propaganda

The Turkish diplomat also drew attention to the issue of propaganda, which was important during the war waged by Russia. “Just like during the wars in Chechnya, she plays an important role in the Russian military machine,” he said.

According to Sezgin, the longer the war lasts, the more it will turn against Putin, because his entourage will gradually turn away from him, which he himself knows.
