In the first 11 months of this year, Greece’s satisfaction rate was 87%, followed by Cyprus at 85.6%, according to the Athens daily Ekathimerini.
Interestingly, in 2019 this figure for Greece was 87.1%, while Croatia was in second place with 85.5%.
Even though Greece topped the pack on the overall satisfaction index, in specific categories such as cleanliness, entertainment, or even food, it faces some serious competition. At the same time, data provided by the Institute of the Hellenic Confederation of Tourism (INSETE) showed that more than 80% of tourists in Greece had a positive travel experience.
The Institute’s data also shows that until November of this year, Greece ranked first in the hotel satisfaction rating with a score of 86.8 percent. Croatia and Cyprus are in second place with 84.9%, followed by Spain with 84.1%, Italy with 83.1%, and Turkey with 80.5%, while France came last with 78.4%.
Moreover, in terms of cleanliness in hotels, Cyprus ranks first with 91.8%, followed by Italy with 91.7%, and Greece comes in third with 90.6%.
At the same time, Turkey leads in the food and beverage category with a rating of 84.3%; Cyprus is second with 84.2% and Greece is third with 82.7%.
Regarding location, Turkey ranks first with 90.4%, followed by Cyprus with 90.3%, and Greece in fifth place with 87.3%.
First place in the Value for Money category is again taken by Turkey with 86.8%, followed by Cyprus with 86.6% and Greece with 85.1%.
Previously, readers of Condé Nast magazine selected Greece as the sixth-best travel destination this year. Named the best holiday destination, Greece came in sixth with a score of 89.97, just ahead of Denmark and the UK.
In October, Greece also received numerous awards at the 29th European World Travel Awards Gala 2022. During this event, held in Mallorca, Athens was named the top sustainable tourism destination in Europe.
