Sky News reports that salvage expert David Mearns said two parts were found among the wreckage, similar to features of the missing Titan submersible.
Two important systems are reported to have been found – the landing frame and back cover – but the hull has not yet been found.
“The debris field implies the destruction of the submersible. It indicates the worst-case scenario,” Mearns said.
Experts have yet to find out if the wreckage found belongs to the Titan. However, experts are increasingly inclined to the version that the dive of tourists to the sunken Titanic ended tragically.
“I suspect that the Titan could have exploded under the enormous pressure of the seawater during the dive,” said Admiral James Burnell-Nugent, former Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Navy.
Recall that a bathyscaphe with five tourists disappeared in the Atlantic on June 19. On board are British billionaire Hamish Harding, as well as one of the richest people in Pakistan, billionaire Prince’s Trust board member Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleiman.
