Tourists will be banned from using suitcases on wheels at the most popular resort in Croatia

Tourists may be prohibited from using wheeled suitcases in the Old Town (ie downtown) of Dubrovnik, one of the most popular resorts in Croatia and the busiest in the Mediterranean. The local mayor explained this with citizens’ complaints about noise at night and called it “just the beginning”, the Express newspaper reports.
Starting in November, Dubrovnik plans to introduce a system whereby tourists must leave their luggage before entering the Old Town. To deliver it to your place of residence, you will have to pay a commission. At the same time, it will be forbidden to roll a suitcase on wheels, only to carry it in the hands through the streets.
Previously, residents have repeatedly complained that they are woken up at night by tourists knocking luggage on wheels through the cobblestone streets of the city. The mayor considers the ban a reliable way to solve the noise problem. The changes will not affect tourists traveling with a backpack or a bag, as they only apply to suitcases on wheels.
Dubrovnik has recently become one of the most popular resorts in Europe: there are 36 tourists for every resident. It is known for the most beautiful Old City, surrounded by a wall, and for the fact that the TV series “Game of Thrones” was filmed there.
