The owner of the hotel said that the guests damaged the property, although the Russians themselves claim that they allegedly became victims.
According to the owner of the 4-star Meril Club hotel in Marmaris, Turkey, the Russians broke the glass door of the shower while drunk. The guests also stated that the glass door jumped off the roller mounts and broke into small fragments, injuring them.
“The rest of the night we pulled the glass out of each other and swept the room,” Russian tourists complained. The next day, they decided to seek compensation for the scratches they received, but the hotel decided differently. The owner of the hotel evicted the tourists from the room and fined them for damaging property.
“They were drunk and behaved indecently,” the owner of the hotel said.
Tourists turned to a travel agency for help, through which they booked a ticket to Turkey. However, they were also not helped there and advised to pay a fine to avoid more serious problems and return home safely. The same was said by the Turkish police.
In the end, the couple paid 200 euros for the glass and stayed at the hotel for another week. They were not given an invoice for the payment, so when they return home, they will not be able to prove that they paid someone for damaged property.
