Very soon, the world’s largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, will set off on its maiden voyage from the port of Miami.
It is unique not only for its size. This is the first ship in the world to be fueled by liquefied natural gas. The last time such a stir was caused only, perhaps, by the legendary Titanic. Icon of the Seas surpassed the ship giant of the last century by almost two times in size and five times in weight.
According to media reports, the largest cruise ship in the world will set off on its first voyage on January 27 this year. It will depart on its debut voyage from the port of Miami, USA. Icon of the Seas will take vacationers on its first week-long cruise to the Caribbean. About 5 thousand future passengers of the giant ship are looking forward to the journey.
Icon of the Seas has 20 decks. There are 7 swimming pools and 6 extreme water slides. The ship also has a 17-meter waterfall, the highest water slide, and the largest water park. The length of the giant liner is 365 meters and the width is about 50 meters. This is larger than three football fields.
The liner can accommodate 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members. The giant ship houses many shops, restaurants, cafes, Jacuzzis, fountains, and concert halls.
