Dublin has been chosen as the smart tourism capital of 2024 by the European Commission. The city was noted for sustainable development, accessibility, digitalization, and development of cultural heritage, SchengenVisaInfo reports.
Smart tourism aims to make the industry more innovative by providing tourists with a personalized and enjoyable experience. Since 2019, cities such as Helsinki, Lyon, Malaga, and Gothenburg have received the status of capital of “smart” tourism in the EU.
The Italian city of Grosseto is recognized as a pioneer of European green tourism.
The winning cities will be part of a network of smart and sustainable tourism destinations in Europe and will receive financial and information support from the EU.
