Spain extends entry restrictions for tourists from third countries until November 15

Spanish authorities have announced that the country is extending coronavirus entry restrictions for all travelers from countries outside the European Union until at least November 15.

The news about the extension of restrictive measures was announced by the Spanish Ministry of Health and published in the Official State Gazette.

By the rules in force in Spain, all those entering from third countries will have to present several documents to obtain permission to enter without restrictions.

The Spanish Ministry of Health explains that people over 12 from non-EU countries must present a vaccination certificate, a negative test, or a certificate of recovery upon arrival.

At the same time, the vaccination certificate is recognized as valid if the owner has passed the primary vaccination within the last 270 days and received a booster dose of the vaccine.

The expiration date also applies to the certificate of recovery, which must be no more than six months old.

Regarding negative tests for COVID-19, Spain accepts both PCR and rapid antigen tests. The PCR test must be taken within 72 hours before entry, and the rapid antigen test must be taken 24 hours before crossing the Spanish border.

In addition to the documents mentioned above, most travelers from third countries are also required to complete a Medical Control Form before traveling to Spain.

Medics explain that the authorities have decided to extend the entry requirements for COVID-19 to prevent an increase in cases of infection now that colder months are approaching.

Data from the World Health Organization shows that 14,885 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in Spain over the past seven days. During the same period, 376 people died in the country.

In terms of vaccination rates, Spanish citizens have received a total of 102,924,722 doses of vaccine so far. About 86 percent of the adult population received two vaccinations, and 66 percent added at least one booster dose to them.
