Sea level rises in Turkish Iskenderun due to earthquake, evacuation started

According to the NTV channel, the sea level rose in the Turkish city of Iskenderun (Hatay province) after the earthquake: roads and areas in the coastal zone were flooded. The evacuation of residents and companies located in the flood zone has begun.

The TV channel reports that “the sea did not recede even two days after the earthquake. Waterfront homes have also been evacuated due to the risk of an earthquake and flooding.”

In addition, a large fire broke out in the port of Iskenderun due to the earthquake, which could not be localized for three days. Hundreds of cargo containers were burned, and almost the entire harbor was engulfed in flames, over which a thick column of black smoke rose.

Recall, according to the latest data, 18,300 people became victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey on February 6, and about 64,000 people were injured.
