The Thai tourist police have arrested a Russian who illegally worked as a guide in Phuket. He was caught red-handed in the historic center with a group of tourists.
The “operatives” found that with his clients he went through the most exciting places for tourists – they had previously visited the Big Buddha, in the Wat Chalong temple. And the tour ended with detention, which was not included in the program.
As it turned out, the illegal guide himself was in the country with the status of a tourist for a long time. He traveled to Malaysia four times to renew his visa-free stay in Thailand. Perhaps this attracted attention.
Under Thai law, visitors are prohibited from working as tourist guides. With the help of such measures, the state is trying to save jobs for its citizens in the central area of Thailand. Now the guide from Russia faces a fine and deportation.
