Thailand is marking the end of the “covid closure” and the return of tourists with a massive reopening of tourist amusement parks. Moreover, several theme parks are planned to be opened at once in popular tourist destinations, timed for the return of tourists – including Phuket, Pattaya, and Bangkok. All of them should open in the coming months.
In Phuket, Thailand’s largest theme park operator, Safari World, is set to unveil its newest project, the Carnival Magic theme park. The opening is planned for September 20. The park is located near Kamala Beach next to Phuket FantaSea. Tourists will be offered a “Thai carnival style”, while the park’s creators expect to welcome up to two million tourists next year and estimate that foreigners will make up about 70% of their clientele.
In Pattaya, Sony Pictures Entertainment, represented by its subsidiary Columbia Pictures, plans to open the first Aquaverse Columbia Pictures theme park, which is scheduled to open on October 12. The park will combine an amusement park and a water park, and tourists will be attracted by attractions, themed areas and restaurants, entertainment and live shows, as well as souvenirs interesting for “cinematic tourists”. If tourism recovers, they intend to expand the park further. It is assumed that the park can attract up to 1 million tourists per year and become a “launching pad” for such amusement parks.
In Bangkok, Siam Amazing Park has planned the opening of a new park, Bangkok World. The creators of the park also hope to attract 1.5 to 2 million tourists. They promise to add a serious gastronomic component to the amusement parks with restaurants and street food.
