Nearly 90 people died due to fires in Hawaii

The NBC News channel informs about the tragic consequences of wildfires in Hawaii, where nearly 90 people became victims. Gov. Josh Green said it was the highest death toll from fires in U.S. history.

The Governor emphasized that a further increase in the number of victims is expected, and the authorities are striving to prepare the public for this misfortune.

Previously, authorities in Maui reported 80 dead as a result of severe wildfires in Hawaii.

Due to dry and hot weather, fires broke out on the islands of Maui and Big Island. This situation was aggravated by the strong winds brought by Hurricane Dora. Some fires covered an area of 400 hectares. The fire destroyed several villages, including the tourist town of Lahaina. Roads are blocked, public transport is not functioning, and hundreds of residents have been evacuated.
