Phuket authorities are cracking down on jet ski riders terrorizing tourists on Surin Beach in an upscale area. According to Thai media, five water bikes and a parasailing boat were seized last Friday.
The maritime administration of this province of Thailand is responding to complaints from vacationers who report a dangerous neighborhood: the beach area is officially closed to all motorized marine sports. As noted in the publication, drunken hooligans in powerful cars constantly violate the ban, and officials call the owners of jet skis to check their operating licenses and have explanatory conversations.
Of course, those who rent water bikes do not have such documents, since there are no licenses, – the article’s author ironically. Therefore, such stories with the detention of equipment are repeated, unfortunately, quite often.
The small Surin beach on the resort island is known as the Millionaires’ Mile: expensive villas, residences, and hotel complexes are built on the surrounding hills overlooking the Andaman Sea. Among the popular activities among tourists, in addition to swimming and sunbathing, our kayaking and surfing, as well as snorkeling and diving.
For lovers of jet skiing in Phuket, there are various offers from tours of tiny nearby islands to excursions through mangroves and coves accessible only from the sea.
