Aeroflot’s Deputy General Director for Strategy, Service and Marketing Andriy Panov has resigned from the company and left Russia, Interfax reported, citing Panov’s position on Facebook, which has already been blocked in Russia.

Panova was appointed Deputy General Director of Aeroflot in 2018. Prior to that, he worked for eight years at the international consulting company Bain & Company. There he managed many projects with Russian banks, transport companies and non-profit organizations in the field of education. Prior to joining Bain Paniv, he was editor of the financial department of the Vedomosti newspaper and deputy editor-in-chief of its website.

Panov is not the first high-ranking employee of the Russian airline to abruptly resign. Earlier it became known that the general director of “Aeroflot” Mikhail Poluboyarinov resigned. Moreover, Aeroflot denied this to the last.

According to official data, he should move to the Post of Russia and take the position of deputy chairman there. One of the possible candidates for his place in Aeroflot is the current CEO of Russia, Sergei Alexandrovsky. The information about the dismissal from Aeroflot was confirmed by an Interfax source in the aviation industry.

Earlier, in March, Andriy Kalmykov, CEO of Peremoha Airlines, resigned as the scandalous owner of Sunrise-Tour. Andriy Yurikov has been appointed acting low-cost carrier since March 5. He held the position of Deputy General Director for Aviation Engineering.

On February 26, the EU imposed sanctions banning the supply to Russia of civil aircraft and parts, as well as their maintenance and insurance. Under the sanctions, lessors must terminate existing contracts with carriers, while the majority of Russia’s air fleet consists of foreign Boeing and Airbus.
