Greece eases covid restrictions for tourists

The Greek authorities have decided to lift most of the tough covid restrictions in the country ahead of the start of the tourist season. This was announced to journalists on Wednesday by the Minister of Health of the Republic, Thanos Pleuris.

In particular, from May 1 to August 31, when visiting catering establishments and various shops, tourists and local residents will not be required to present a vaccination certificate or a certificate of COVID-19.

In addition, from June 1, the wearing of protective masks in indoor areas is cancelled.

Finally, from next month, restrictions on the number of visitors will be lifted for public places, in particular catering, cinemas, stadiums, etc. Downloads are 100% allowed.

As explained by Thanos Pleuris, the government is also considering removing the requirement to provide a coronavirus vaccination certificate from the entry rules to the country. However, all relaxations are temporary and will be valid until the end of the high tourist season. In the future, these measures may be reviewed in the direction of tightening.

Recall that earlier the Ministry of Health of Greece planned to weaken sanitary requirements in March. However, they should have been distributed only to citizens vaccinated against coronavirus.
