Flood and sharp cold: Thailand is expecting an abnormal storm

An abnormal storm that will bring flooding and a sharp cooling is expected in the southern resort regions of Thailand. At the same time, conditionally cool weather may continue until the end of the week. This was reported by the Thai press concerning the Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD).

The latter on Tuesday issued a warning of heavy rain in 25 provinces, as well as an impending storm that could flood the southern region. Also, according to the flash flood warning, a cold snap will follow from tomorrow, December 6, to Friday, December 8.

“Easterly winds carrying moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will cover the upper part of the country. This will bring some rain to parts of the upper country, while the north and northeast will experience cool morning weather. It will also lead to heavy rains in some parts of the southern region. The waves in the Gulf of Thailand are of medium strength, the height of the waves is about 2 meters,” the department said. Residents of the southern region and tourists are advised to be careful due to heavy rains and the risk of flooding.

Residents and tourists are also being promised that a new wave of a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China will spread across Thailand from December 6 to 8, while easterly winds will continue to bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. This will lead to thunderstorms in some areas of the country, followed by a drop in temperature and strong winds. They promise to lower the temperature by 2-3 degrees, and given the fact that the weather in the same Phuket is +30, our tourists are unlikely to notice.
