Safety is a particularly important issue when it comes to travel. Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection has released its ranking of the safest countries to travel in 2024.
According to Meteored, when compiling the ranking, the company took into account various factors, such as the safety rating that tourists give to each country; information from databases such as Geosure, and other security indices such as the Global Peace Index.
Canada
At the top of the list was Canada, a country that is distinguished by its cold climate, beautiful national parks, multicultural cities, and, as it turns out, its safety. Canada is a country with a high standard of living and political stability that has low violent crime rates and strict gun regulations.
Switzerland
It’s no surprise that Switzerland is among the safest countries to travel to this year as well, as the nation usually tops the list for safety scores. Switzerland has a very low crime rate and is a country known for its exceptional standard of living.
Norway
The next country in the ranking is Norway, which stands out for its very low crime rate, very good quality of life, and the fact that it is one of the happiest countries in the world. One of the aspects that most attracts attention to Norway from a security perspective is that the police there do not carry firearms.
Ireland
In fourth place in the ranking is Ireland, the land of leprechauns, fairies, and castles, which is also one of the safest countries in the world. Ireland is the third most peaceful country, has a very low crime rate, and, like Norway, has an excellent quality of life and the fact that its police also do not use firearms.
Netherlands
Rounding out the ranking of the five safest countries to travel to is a European country known for its tulip fields, windmills, beautiful cities, and towns with medieval charm.
In addition to those mentioned, the following countries are at the top of the Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ranking: the UK, Portugal, Denmark, Iceland, Australia, Japan, France, Spain, and Brazil.
