Everything is full, people cannot find a place in the hotel: the governor of Antalya, Turkey, spoke about the difficult situation

Hotels in Antalya are 100% full, some tourists, having encountered the “stops” of the hotels, “cut off the phones”, including those of the city authorities. More than 80,000 foreign tourists arrived per day – plus local demand for the long weekend during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Antalya Governor Ersin Yaziji described this situation to the Turkish media.

“We even broke our record last Saturday, 84,000 foreign tourists alone arrived at our airports. Hotel occupancy is very good, it is close to 100% during the holiday,” said Yazidzhi.

Earlier, DIP reported that “Chaos at European airports has spread to Turkey, flights are delayed up to 4 hours.”

On average, he said, the number of foreign tourists arriving in the city by air every day has exceeded 70,000 in the last week or two, and the number of foreign tourists arriving in the city by air has exceeded 60,000 since the beginning of June.

“We exceed last year’s numbers by 150% in terms of the number of tourists,” the head of Antalya added. At the same time, it is not the Russians who are leading, as before. In the first six months, Germany is still in first place – and will soon give Turkey its first million tourists, while the figure is equal to 954,988 German citizens. Russia took second place with 785 thousand. Great Britain followed, followed by Poland and the Netherlands.

There is a downside to the hyped demand – Mr. Yaziji confirmed that tourists have problems finding a place in large hotels for this weekend. These are mainly local tourists “who call and ask for help because they cannot find a place in a hotel,” the governor said. According to him, the resort is “certainly a bit short of space in the big hotels” – and this trend is likely to continue until at least the end of the Turkish long weekend – that is, until the middle of next week.
