Egyptian tourism officials have announced the most positive forecast for the number of tourists in recent years. For the first time, Egypt received almost 7 million tourists in six months – this became the highest indicator in the country’s history during this period.
“Thanks to this achievement, Egypt is close to achieving the annual goal of 15 million tourists,” – assure local officials. They also state that 10% of the tourists who came to Egypt in the first half of this year came from Germany. At the same time, Egypt expects that the number of visitors in the second half of the year, that is, from the beginning of July, will be greater.
The statistics led to optimistic expectations for the next year. The Ministry of Tourism believes that the number of tourists coming to Egypt will increase to 18 million tourists next year. It should be noted that Egypt recorded the previous record in 2010, before all the revolutions and other cataclysms when the tourist flow reached 14.7 million tourists.
Last year, according to official statistics, about 11.7 million tourists visited Egypt. And the Ministry of Tourism expected inbound tourism to grow by 28% this year. At the same time, according to data for the winter, the growth figure was 35% compared to last year.
