Tourists flying to Egypt via Turkey can expect new challenges. The country of the Pyramids is on the list of countries to which Turkey will impose stricter restrictions. According to an official statement, the restrictions will last 14 days, the list includes the following countries: Egypt, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
We will remind, on Monday Egypt reported the first case of delivery of a new strain “Omicron” to the country. He was found in Cairo by an Egyptian citizen who came from South Africa.
For tourists arriving in Turkey from other countries, they are still required to provide evidence of a full course of COVID-19 vaccination, a recent recovery from COVID-19, or a negative test result. Tests can be a negative PCR test performed 72 hours before arrival, or a rapid antigen test performed 48 hours before arrival.
In addition, everyone arriving in Turkey from the age of 6 must complete an online form no later than 72 hours before the trip. This form is filled out on the website of the Turkish Ministry of Health and actually provides tourists with a local analogue of the QR-code, without which it is difficult to move around the country.
Earlier, the DIP wrote that “Egypt has begun to close the borders to tourists.”
