The popular Georgian resort of Batumi was in the grip of a terrible natural disaster: a powerful hurricane hit the Adjara region.
According to Georgian media, wind gusts on March 28 reached 60 kilometers per hour. Local residents post frightening videos on social networks: because of the elements, trees fall on cars, fences fly across the sky, and roofs are torn off houses.
Emergency services cannot cope with the consequences of the disaster, rescuers receive dozens of calls. Forecasters predict that the storm at sea will last for several more days.
The number of victims is being specified, and a message appeared in the media from the neighboring city of Batumi, also affected by the disaster.
“Help will be provided to all the victims. Both rescuers and public utilities are working on the ground. A special commission calculates the damage. The power supply will be gradually restored,” Kobuleti City Hall quoted him as saying.
