After Hurghada, sharks swam to terrorize another Red Sea resort: an alarm was announced

The fatal shark attack on a Russian in Hurghada scared not only Egypt but also other countries whose resorts are located on the Red Sea. Now the alarm has been announced in Eilat: according to the Israeli press, dangerous sharks from the shores of Egypt have come to terrorize the resorts of Israel. Employees of the Nature and Parks Department of the city of Eilat informed the media that a rare and dangerous shark species was spotted near the coast of the city.

“After a deadly shark attack off the coast of Egypt, Israel is now on high alert. Official sightings have confirmed that this rare species of shark is threatening the swimming area of Eilat’s northern beaches. The species seen by observers were positively identified as tiger sharks,” the Israeli press reports.

According to Dr. Asaf Zvuloni, an ecologist who works for the Department of Nature and Parks, the appearance of tiger sharks near the shores of the resort is a rare occurrence, although tiger sharks have always lived in the Red Sea, can swim in shallow water and can live up to 50 years.

“The presence of a shark in our area raised a lot of questions about how dangerous it is to go to the sea in Eilat,” experts added. At the same time, the Association “Sharks in Israel” said that in the summer in Eilat, you can see female sharks giving birth. It will be recalled that Egyptian experts previously cited this very reason – the fact that female sharks swim in shallow water to give birth to young, and they are hungry and aggressive – as the main reason for the risk of shark attacks on people.

At the same time, Israeli experts advised swimmers and tourists to “remain calm and not panic in the event of a meeting with a predator.” “Don’t make sudden movements, keep eye contact with the shark and slowly return to the beach. Most of the sharks leave by themselves,” the experts of the association “reassured” the tourists.
