UIA has suspended Kyiv-Rome flights at least until the end of winter navigation, according to the airline’s updated schedule.
Tickets for this route can be purchased only on March 27. UIA has scheduled five flights a week from Kyiv to Rome for summer navigation.
UIA’s last regular flight on this route was in January. Tickets were open for single flights in February, but reservations are currently unavailable. The airline’s website states that it will operate these single flights Kiev-Rome on February 11 and 13.
At the same time, UIA is currently flying on the second route to Italy Kyiv – Milan.
The press service of the airline avianews.com did not comment on such changes in the flight schedule.
In December 2021, UIA announced a reduction in flights to Rome and Milan due to new quarantine restrictions in Italy. The new rules banned even vaccinated tourists from Ukraine from entering the country, which significantly limited the demand for flights to Italy.
The next day, UIA changed its mind to cut flights and said it would fly four times a week from Kiev to Rome and daily from Kiev to Milan.

The cancellation of Kyiv-Rome flights is not the first for UIA in winter navigation. In January, UIA suspended flights from Kyiv to Tbilisi and Athens until March.
Passenger rights when canceling a flight
If the airline cancels the flight, the passenger can return the ticket without penalty. The passenger is not obliged to agree on a voucher for the purchase of new tickets and can choose a refund.
Instead of a refund, the traveler has the right to change the departure date free of charge on the same route to a later date or change the route, for example, from Kiev-Rome to Kiev-Milan.
Who is flying from Kyiv to Rome now?
Low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair are currently flying from Kyiv (Zhulyany) and Boryspil airports to Rome’s main airport, Fiumicino.
Before buying a ticket, it should be borne in mind that these airlines have repeatedly changed the flight schedule and suspended flights to dozens of destinations from Ukraine.
You are guaranteed to be able to fly if you buy a ticket 14 days before departure. The airline may cancel the flight without payment of compensation 14 days before departure. Airlines try not to cancel flights for a shorter period, because then passengers need to pay compensation from 250 to 600 euros.
