Russia has introduced criminal liability for refusing to participate in a “special operation” in Ukraine

Russia’s Ministry of Defense has updated the text of the contract for servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces, adding a provision establishing criminal liability for refusing to participate in the so-called special operation in Ukraine.

This was stated in a comment by Guildhall, citing a source in the intelligence community, the head of the Center for Defense Reform, coordinator of the interagency platform for combating hybrid threats, which operates in the framework of Ukraine-NATO cooperation, Alexander Danyliuk.

“Intelligence has established that the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (Ministry of Defense of Russia – ed.) Updated the text of the contracts for servicemen. In particular, the list of provisions for criminal liability for the military includes a refusal to participate in the “special operation”, – said the head of the Central Election Commission.

“It is known that the provisions of previous contracts provided for liability only for refusing to participate in the war, which significantly complicated the process of bringing to justice Russian servicemen who refused to participate in the” special operation “in Ukraine. Previously, part of Article 3 was applied to the majority of servicemen who refuse to take part in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. 332 of the Criminal Code – refusal to carry out the order “, – Alexander Danilyuk summed up.

It will be recalled that CNN, citing a Pentagon official, claims that almost a third of the forces that Russia concentrated in mid-February to invade Ukraine have lost their combat capability.

Also, Russian human rights activists from the Agora organization report that they are being approached en masse by Russian servicemen who do not want to continue participating in the so-called “special operation.” According to the head of the organization Pavel Chikov, the military from 17 cities of Russia refused to fight against Ukraine.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the irreparable losses of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation since the beginning of the full-scale aggression against Ukraine have exceeded 19,600 personnel.
