“The possible nationalization of Russian assets abroad is a two-pronged weapon,” world news agencies quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin as saying.
The Russian head of state’s comment suggests that Russia may take retaliatory measures, according to Reuters.
“The situation in the energy sector is deteriorating due to non-market, tough measures, including administrative pressure on our company Gazprom in a number of European countries,” Putin said.
“We are witnessing another attempt by our partners to shift their own economic and energy mistakes to Russia and to resolve the issues and problems that have arisen in this regard, again at our expense,” TARS quoted him as saying.
Last night, Germany announced that its energy regulator was taking control of Gazprom Deutschland after Gazprom announced its withdrawal on Friday.
