As Vladimir Putin prepares Russia for the latest attack on Ukraine, the president has launched one of the largest purges since coming to power.
According to the Daily Mail, the Russian head of state cleared his entourage of at least 150 people suspected of treason and espionage working in the West.
In an attempt to reorganize his forces, Putin has begun a “hunt” for some FSB members he believes are spies.
Counterintelligence agents told Putin that it was because of them that information about some of the Russian army’s actions in Ukraine had leaked.
For example, a few hours before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Britain and the United States had already published a map showing the positions of Russian troops and the exact location from which they would advance. Moreover, Russia’s military campaign has not yet been a great success, so Putin is increasingly looking for those responsible for the failed blitzkrieg.
According to the latest reports, Putin has tripled his troop numbers in a desperate attempt to attack Donbas, where he hopes to win a significant victory by May 9.
