Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov said that no one thought that a “special military operation” in Ukraine would last only a few days, according to world agencies.
Russia uses the name “special military operation” to denote its actions in Ukraine, Western news agencies reminded. Peskov confirmed Moscow’s assurances that the operation was going according to plan.
He assured that Russia would use nuclear weapons only if its existence was threatened.
Peskov reminded that the main actions of the Russian military in Mariupol were to clean the city of nationalist groups, according to TARS.
“The occupation of Ukraine does not seem to be the goal of a special military operation by the Russian Federation,” he said.
