How did the Moscow sink? Recordings and photographs

Several days have passed since the 40-year-old cruiser Moskva sank near Sevastopol. According to Ukrainian data, the ship was supposed to be hit by two Neptune missiles. This information was also unofficially confirmed by the Pentagon. The network has photos and videos that show how the “Moscow” is sinking.

“Moskva” had a length of more than 180 meters and a displacement of more than 11,000 tons, the crew consisted of more than 500 sailors.

On April 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the ship “lost stability” while being towed due to hull damage. The Russian Defense Ministry then stated that part of the ship was destroyed during the detonation of ammunition.

“The ship sank in a storm,” the authorities in Moscow said. This information contradicted the Ukrainian version of events, which suggested that the cruiser was hit by two Ukrainian Neptune missiles. This version was also confirmed by the United States.

“Mother Nature” vs. Russia

Due to a storm, Russian forces were unable to evacuate the crew of the Moskva cruiser that sank in the Black Sea, hit by missiles from the Ukrainian army, said Natalia Gumenyuk, spokeswoman for the Ukrainian Maritime Border Guard Service.

– The battle detonated, and the struggle for life began. We watched other ships try to help, but even the forces of nature were on the side of Ukraine. Because the storm prevented a peaceful rescue operation or crew evacuation,” she said.

The network has photos and videos that allegedly capture the cruiser just before it sank. Thick smoke is visible on them, which is a trace of a fire. The ship was clearly on its side. Experts unequivocally stated that this was the ship “Moscow”.

According to Ukrainian and American authorities, Russia has suffered heavy human losses, the extent of which, however, is not known in detail. Ilya Ponomarev, one of the Russian oppositionists, said that information about the rescue of 58 sailors from the cruiser was confirmed. “The staff of the ship consisted of 510 people,” he said on Facebook.

Russian flagship

“Moskva” was the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet and one of the most important warships. prof. Evan Maudsley, a well-known British historian specializing in the history of Russia and World War II, emphasized that this was the first cruiser lost by Russia since 1941, when the Germans sank the Red Ukraine off the coast of Crimea.

The Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday released a video that allegedly depicted a meeting between the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy and survivors on the battleship Moskva. The recording lasts 30 seconds, and it shows several dozen men in uniform standing in front of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Nikolai Evmenev.

The meeting allegedly took place in Sevastopol on the annexed Crimean peninsula.
