Employees of the Sheremetyevo customs office found undeclared jewelry worth 69 million rubles on a passenger who arrived on a flight from the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Customs Service (FCS of Russia).
“Undeclared expensive jewelry was found by Sheremetyevo customs officers in a 23-year-old Russian woman who arrived by flight from Dubai. The citizen of the Russian Federation proceeded through the “green” corridor and did not declare the goods, later presenting three bracelets, a pair of earrings and four rings to customs control. Two more rings were found during the examination of the passenger’s baggage, ”the message says.
As noted in the press service, the customs examination established that the products were made of precious metals with inserts of precious stones. The total value of the goods amounted to about 69 million rubles, the amount of unpaid customs payments – 20.3 million rubles.
It is clarified that the issue of initiating a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 194 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Evasion of customs payments committed on an especially large scale”) and Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Smuggling of jewelry made of precious metals related to the list of strategically important goods”).
