Ten people went missing after an accident at a Polish coal mine

Ten people are missing after the second incident in a week at a Polish coal mine, according to Agence France-Presse, citing a statement today from the coal mining company Yastrzhembska Spulka Venglowa.

“Rescuers cannot contact ten people” at the Zofyuwka mine in southern Poland, said the coal company, which also owns the Pnewek mine, where five people died and seven went missing after a gas explosion on Wednesday.

According to the coal company, the earthquake at the mine “Zofyuvka” occurred at a depth of about 900 meters at 03:40 local time.

The tremors were accompanied by a large leak of methane gas.

This is the second incident at a coal mine in Poland in the last four days, according to Agence France-Presse.
