The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian troops in the south of Ukraine use torture and kidnappings, and called on the world to respond to this, according to the Associated Press and BTA.
Torture chambers have been set up there, Zelensky said in an evening address to the nation yesterday. According to him, they kidnapped local officials.
Zelensky said that humanitarian aid was being stolen, so there was a famine.
In the occupied districts of Kherson and Zaporizhia oblasts, “Russians are creating separatist states and introducing the Russian currency, the ruble,” he said.
He said Russia’s planned offensive in eastern Ukraine “will begin soon.”
Zelensky reiterated his call for tougher sanctions against Russia, including its entire banking sector and oil industry.
